Experience superior shallow‑water performance aboard the 18‑foot Cougar Marine South Bay flats skiff, built tough right here in Texas using a lightweight composite/graphite hull, a 102″ beam, and an ultra‑shallow 4″ draft. Powered by a 140 HP Suzuki inline‑4 outboard (DF140B) and equipped with a precision Power‑Pole shallow‑water anchor, this boat delivers stability, responsiveness, and easy maneuvering through skinny water and across sandbars. It comfortably carries up to four anglers, offers dry footing thanks to the flat‑bottom design and poling strakes, and provides plenty of deck space and storage, ideal for drift or wade fishing trips throughout the Lower Laguna Madre.
- 18′ LOA / 102″ beam – wide enough for comfort, narrow enough for stealth in flats.
- 4″ draft – ideal for accessing shallow fishing grounds.
- 140 HP Suzuki DF140B – best‑in‑class power‑to‑weight ratio and reliability
- Power‑Pole anchor – allows quiet, precise anchoring in skinny water.
- Stable composite hull – dry ride and excellent tracking, perfect for standing while casting.
We specialize in catching trophy fish using artificial lures carefully selected to match conditions and seasonal patterns. You’ll be using high-quality soft plastics like paddle tails, shrimp profiles, and curly tails, designed to tempt redfish, trout, and flounder in shallow waters.
Got a big group? I’ve got you covered.
If your group is larger than what my boat can carry (3 max for drifting, 4 max for wading), I work with other licensed local captains and can set up a multi-boat trip.
- Each boat is priced separately — $500 for 2 people, plus $75 for each additional angler (drift trips), or $150 per person for wade trips.
We’ll launch together, fish the same areas, and keep your group together on the water.
Launch windows can shift. We stay updated using official SpaceX channels and will confirm trip timing with you as soon as it’s finalized.
We’ll position in the bay with a clear line of sight toward Starbase, avoiding restricted zones while still getting a great view.
Plan for about 4–5 hours total. Some launches run behind, so we’ll stay flexible as long as weather and conditions allow.
If the launch is canceled before departure, you’ll have the option to reschedule or get a refund. If it’s scrubbed while we’re already on the water, we’ll make the most of the trip and return once it’s official.
We understand plans can change — here’s how cancellations work:
- Cancel at least 24 hours before your trip:
You’ll get a 90% refund — we keep 10% to cover booking costs and trip prep. - Cancel within 24 hours of your trip:
You’ll receive an 80% refund — we keep 20% to help cover short-notice costs like fuel, bait, and blocked-out time. - No-shows (no call, no show):
The full trip cost is non-refundable. - If the Captain cancels due to weather or unsafe conditions:
You’ll receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.
This policy helps us stay fair and keep the boat running smoothly while giving you flexibility when plans change. Please give as much notice as possible so we can try to rebook your slot. Thanks for understanding!
